| "To get paid or get laid you must persuade" - Al Berg|
What is persuasion? The use of communication skills to get people to do what you want them to do.
Are you persuasive? If not, this book will help go from a person who doesn't get what they want to one who does.
If you are persuasive then this book will help you go from a persuader to a master persuader.
Your life is about to change for the better, much better. I know, because mine did. Two years ago I was struggling to get ahead on the job, meet new people and have more success than I was currently enjoying.
With my new persuasion skills, I've got a promotion, am managing people and have made a number of new friends. All this by making small changes to the messages I was sending out.
The beauty of persuasion skills is that just one or two basic skills will make a difference.
Knowing persuasion techniques is like having a superpower. Learning these techniques can be easy and fun.
Whether it's persuading yourself, co-workers, friends, family, or anyone. Also, avoiding persuaders from manipulating you. You'll be happy when you disarm their attempts at getting you to buy what you don't need or doing what's not in your best interest.
Why isn't it taught in school? There is no course on persuasion and influence. Psychology is the closest but doesn't supply the specific skills you need to succeed.
If you look at almost all successful people the one skill they have in common is Persuasion.
Imagine how your life could be with persuasion skills? You could get your boss to implement your ideas. You could move up in your company. You could find the partner of your dreams. You could get your co-workers to help you when normally they wouldn't.
There are three sides to persuasion:
All this from small changes in the message you send and receive.
Messages came come in written form, verbally and even through body language. You are constantly sending out and receiving messages that your subconscious is decoding. The trick here is to learn to trust and listen to your gut.
My name is Al Berg. I'm a software developer by trade. As a software developer you must learn how to persuade a computer to follow your commands. I've also performed magic and am an avid juggler. Magic is a great skill to teach persuasion because you must persuade people that you can do the impossible. I've written a number of books on technology, created a diet system, numerous websites and have made millions of dollars from my many skills. I've worked for some of the top companies in the world you'd find in the Dow Jones Industrials and The S&P 100 and a few hedge funds.
I've known the secrets of persuasion but didn't use them. It wasn't until I read a great book by Scott Adams, the Dilbert Comic creator called How to Lose at Almost Everything but Still Win Big. He is a great author, blogger and comic writer. In his book, there is a small chapter on persuasion with 9 tips.
I tried using these at work and all of a sudden my success at persuading others started to skyrocket. I got a promotion and started to really notice where and when people were trying to manipulate me.
You may be thinking "Why should I learn to persuade, I'm not in sales?" Because almost everything you get in your life will come from this skill. Whether it's finding a mate or getting a job. Writing a resume or being skilled on an interview. Selling an idea or product, persuading coworkers to help you or just overall success. You odds of success will increase in proportion to your persuasion skills.
This is a learnable skill and the aim of this book is to teach you how to be a Master Persuader.
Now the problem with persuasion books and videos is that there's too much knowledge thrown at you at a time. Instead, this book will teach you simple concepts and then give you simple tasks to complete.
The other reason to learn this skill is to make sure you're not manipulated by other persuaders such as salespeople, cults, websites.
Persuasion runs the gamut from being persuaded by an ad to being brainwashed by cults. We will explore all of these techniques in this book in a lesson form with exercises. Persuasive methods used to help you complete the tasks you're assigned (success is in your future).
Who am I to teach persuasion. My teaching skills come from learning to juggle and teaching people to juggle. In addition, I've been able to get more than 70,000 followers on Twitter not from fame but from using persuasion skills. Thirdly, I don't have what's known as the curse of knowledge that other "experts" might have. Since I'm relatively new to persuasion, I still remember how I learned and can use this method to teach you.
This book is organized by a series of lessons. Each lesson is meant to teach you a persuasion tip with an exercise that will reinforce the lesson. It is also written from a persuader's point of view so this will help you accomplish your goals.
Does persuasion always work? Of course not. But it will help you get more of what you want and less of what you don't.
Another element of this book I will discuss are cognitive biases. Our brains work in strange ways and one of the most important to know is the Confirmation Bias. Knowing these biases can also help your persuasion skills.
Included in this book are lessons on:
The first lesson to persuade is a short introduction to the 7 elements of persuasion. You can read his book Influence to get more details on this topic. I've created a simple acronym ASSCURL to help remember these, which are keys to persuading. Read on to find out the meaning of this.
By buying this book you're about to join the family of skilled persuaders. PT Barnum said, "There is a sucker born every day." You don't want to be one of them. You will learn how to prevent this and to take more control of your life. You will learn these skills via simple lessons and progress to expertise at persuasion.
